2012: Bling Bling Ka-Ching

It’s a continual tension in my research on 2012: holding in balance those who are genuinely attempting to use 2012 as a catalyst for change in their lives (of which there are undeniably many), and those who are simply cashing in.

The latter group has been around for some time now and includes such things as the newly announced 2012 cruise from LA to the Mexican Riviera. But the following really hit me as the tipping point of 2012 commercialism, Jay Sean’s tune 2012 (It Ain’t The End) ft. Nicki Minaj:

After this shockingly bad video I was inspired to write my own 2012 song, 2012: Bling Bling Ka-Ching:

Maya calling/ from way back in time
A message to you/ to pay coin for my rhyme
It’s the end of the world/ so you might as well spend
It’s the only way to stop it/ coming all to an end

2012 Bling Bling Ka-Ching/ 2012 this is my thing
2012 Bling Bling Ka-Ching/ 2012 this is my thing

Just ask the Hopi/ they know it too
The Lost White Brother/ has a message for you
If you want to save/ our sweet Mother Earth
You must continually spend/ from the day of your birth

2012 Bling Bling Ka-Ching/ 2012 this is my thing
2012 Bling Bling Ka-Ching/ 2012 this is my thing

Even science and NASA/ is getting in on the scare
They’re predicting an/ unusually large solar flare
You can buy a pimped bunker/ to chill with your friends
It’s the only way to stop it/ coming all to an end

2012 Bling Bling Ka-Ching/ 2012 this is my thing
2012 Bling Bling Ka-Ching/ 2012 this is my thing (x2)

I see it performed along the lines of M.I.A.’s Galang (remember, back when she kicked ass?):

  1. true, true…though not much ka-ching nimbin way…they too stoned still them aging hippies up that way…seriously…haven’t see so many grey-crevice-lined faces in one place ! they should switch to eating it…not smokin it..
and more bling…not ka-ching to be seen last night at the annual “faery glitter ball” jiggi hall (true name!)
i had a fabbo night of dance and entertainment with the trannies, queers and dear friends…with the nights slogan being “bring your costume and your consciousness: get into it, not out of it!….oooommmmm

  2. wot…the grey faces?
cause the glitter ball was more lismore way…with bling being the costumes.. and hours of dancin…admittedly more to the likes of M.I.A…which IS very dance-able….but give me a bit more say…”the loved ones” (inducted into australian aria hall of fame also last night)…”ever lovin man” or “loved ones”…brilliant singles…and albums…

i think my crevice-lined face is starting to show !

    1. Yes, the grey faces. As soon as I got out of my car I was swamped with people trying to sell me nasty varieties of drugs, when all I wanted was a coffee and Danish.
